I’ve been uninspired to continue this hobby. I tried too hard and got lazy and yeah, I’m back and am gonna try again.
So what have I been up to this year?
Well I went on a two week trip to Europe/NYC to get away from work. Ate the cheese and pate. Ate the Nando’s. (I love you, Nando’s!) Saw the sights. Walked my legs off. Shopped til I dropped. Had the most humbling and uncomfortable meal at Le Bernadin. You know, the works!
But what have I really been into these past few months? Skincare. And eating. And being granola (aka hippie 2k18).
Skincare: Ever since I learned about microbeads and ditched my Neutrogena grapefruit acne cleanser a year ago, I’ve been on the hunt for a new cleanser and basically a new skincare routine. Here’s the facts: I played around too much and used products I didn’t even need (read: Lush’s cupcake face mask) and my face got mad at me. I went through a big Lush phase and lived out my dreams of trying everything, and 1. that was a mistake 2. I got bored and wanted to be excited about having a skin routine. Fast forward a few weeks later and I’m obsessively looking at Sephora’s website at products and brands. Still am by the way. Did a “casual” browse today at work.
So I’ve been picking up samples here and there to find a cleanser I love and try essences and serums to see if they’re really right for me. I want to go the cruelty free route, but I’m interested in trying Fresh’s Black Tea Kombucha Essence and Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask, so I’m willing to be flexible. The money though! I told myself I’d be willing to invest and splurge on my skin because I only got one, ya know?
Another brand I want to splurge on is Tatcha because Japan, and I love it lol. Once I can afford it, I’m splurging on the Indigo Rice Enzyme powder because I want to not only get my face back to square one, but I also want to address my acne scars, pores and focus more on preventing skin aging. And I feel like that plus Vitamin C/E is right up my alley.
I’ve tried Herbivore’s Jasmine and Green Tea toner and YTTP’s Superfood Skin Reset Antioxidant Mask, but my face didn’t like both. So now I picked up Lush’s Oatafix face mask to help reset my face while I try some things.
Things I’m currently trying:
• Farmacy’s Clean Bee cleanser
• Fresh’s Kombucha essence
• Koola’s Sun Drops sunscreen
• FAB’s ginger tumeric jelly mask
• Tatcha’s Rice Enzyme Powder
• Tatcha’s essence
• Tatcha’s radiant glow mask
Things I’m gonna try once it comes in the mail:
• Meow Meow Tweet’s face lotion
• Meow Meow Tweet’s face mask
• Meow Meow Tweet’s Lemon Rose cleansing oil
Eating: I’m craving greens again! Meat has also been less appealing to me lately, though I still have those occasional midnight munchies that are hard to fight. I’ve been juicing again and now make my own raw granola bars! All I want are greens and fruits. All the fruits. I’ve never bought so many fruits in my life. #TMI My goal in life is to have green poops.
I also fell in love with cereal again and must have a box of Flax Plus Red Berry Crunch from Nature’s Path Organic every week with fresh bluebs, raisins, and other fresh/dried fruit with almond milk.
I recently ate at Launderette again and was dying over the sweet potatoes. I’m taking a break from baked sweet potato fries and only eating them halved, baked, with sesame oil and basil from now on.
Speaking of granola…
Being granola: “Granola” is the term my boyfriend and I started using to call my woke aka greener lifestyle. Hippie doesn’t feel right and crunchy sounds weird. I’m excited about these wool balls I bought to help reduce drying time and save money on electricity. I also have been using produce bags when I grocery shop to reduce the amount of single-use plastic I consume when using plastic produce bags (those things add up, dude). I love it. I love all of it. I also switched to environmentally conscious TP and paper towels. Currently considering reusable cotton pads for my skincare routine and buying cloth napkins.
I rediscovered the zero waste lifestyle and started following some influencers on social media, but I don’t think it’s for me. I can easily adopt some if it to my current way of life, but I would go crazy otherwise. I like watching how people reduce their waste.
Composting! I haven’t done it before, but I’m excited to start. That’ll definitely reduce my footprint as half of my trash is compostable.
Gardening! Boyfriend and I are gonna start a home garden later this year. All the basil! All the pesto! hrrrgnh Now I just wanna make a pizza.
I have also had the hankering to bake something, so we’ll see.
Are you really digging your skincare or venturing into a greener lifestyle? Let me knowwwww. I’ve been all over the skincare and granola scene on Instagram and Youtube, so I’m interested.
